Join us for a Spin-In. Bring your spinning wheels and drop spindles, or other fiber projects. Bring your exotic fibers for show-and-tell. Those in the Deb Menz Study Group will have colorful fibers to show.
Don’t be shy if you are a beginner. You know how we like to talk about and show our fiber projects.
There will also be a business meeting, including nominations for officers. The election will be in June. All offices are up for election. Volunteers are desperately needed. Offices can be shared so volunteer to be active in the guild.
Come and do some natural dyeing with us on Saturday June 23, 2018, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., at Peinhardt Living History Farm, Cullman, AL. Yellow dye comes from flowers, leaves and onion skins. Red comes from insects. Brown comes from nuts. We’ll use plants, trees and insects to color fibers. We’re planning black walnut hulls, pecan shells, marigold blossoms, mimosa leaves, onion skins, Queen Anne’s lace, cochineal, logwood, indigo and a couple of other dyes. Learn how to prepare the fiber and the dyes. At the end of the day, you’ll have a rainbow of colors.
Supply Fee: Option 1 = $5, chemical fee if you’re bringing up to one pound of your own fiber already mordanted, or up to one pound of wool fiber washed and ready to mordant;
Option 2 = TBD, chemical fee and one pound of wool yarn washed and ready to mordant.
Fee to be paid to leader at the beginning of the workshop.
