Fiber Study Group–How to Card Fiber for Spinning
February 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm CST
The Fiber Study Group will meet at 6:30 in the Cooper House across from the Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Huntsville. We will be preparing for the Sheep to Shawl Demonstration and Sheep to Shawl Contest. We will learn how to use a drum carder to prepare fibers in preparation for spinning. Carding is the process of taking unordered fibers and lining the fibers up in preparation for spinning either on a drop spindle or a spinning wheel. It can also be used to blend different types of fibers or to blend colors of fibers together.
If you’re not interested in the Sheep to Shawl come anyway. Bring all those UFO’ s (Un-Finished Objects) you started to work on and talk fiber with your friends. Bring your finished projects as well for show and tell. Everyone is welcome – come spin, knit, weave, crochet, etc. The Fiber Study Group is for people of all skill levels. If you want to work on a project or talk about fiber, join us. Bring your fiber questions!
